Hi Everyone, thank you for your input.
The fish on top was sold by the shop as Opsodoras leporhinus from Peru.
The long catfish a the bottom was only called Leptodoras. it does not have the long dorsal fin ray so not L. juruensis but all the other species look very similar!
Thank you again!

snowball pleco L-142 LDA-033
Hi there! I have a snowball pleco (L-142, LDA-033) about 4 inches long. I also have a large gold nugget pleco (about 5-6 inches long) which keeps bullying the snowball. Anyone interested in buying the snowball? I live in the Portsmouth (Hampshire) area. If anyone is interested I can post pictures ...

Re: Monte dourado?
I don't know if there are hybrids which look like these fish but I am almost sure they are pure species as they turn up occasionally in my local fish shops. To be honest I would be interested to know whether they are queen arabesque or monte dourado but I would probably need to see both species ...

I have a female and a male which look identical to your pleco. I bought them as "queen arabesque (L260) but I suspect they are Monte Dourado. Not an expert though...

Re: What species of Leporacanthicus?
Hi Tagamasid,
Thank you for the pictures. The differences in the sexes appear to be rather subtle...I was expecting a difference in the length of the snout which is apparent in L joselimae...anyway, my fish is about 2.5 inches long. Cheers

Re: What species of Leporacanthicus?
JAC: Yes, I have read that colour differences can be used to differentiate between male and female, however I expected this to be more subtle, the other two fish were definitely darker. Since you have a pair are there any other differences I should look for? The other two fish in the shop were ...

Re: What species of Leporacanthicus?
Thank you. Great news, I was hoping it would be L. heterodon. There were three Leporacanthicus individuals in the dealer's shop but the other two were much darker in colouration so I was not sure about the species. Hopefully it will settle down quickly as it looks a bit skinny ( I assume it is wild ...

Ok, thank you everyone for their input. I am glad to hear that my gut feeling was correct...I have recently caught the L number bug and being able to differentiate between peckoltia and Panaqolus is definietly a giant step!

Re: Please help me ID this orange and black pleco
Would you say it is definitely Panaqolus and not Peckoltia? Yes I would. Thank you. The reason I ask is because the LFS I bought it from had it listed as Peckoltia vittata. I had the feeling that this was wrong and asked the guy if he was sure of the ID. He said that he bought them from someone in ...

Hi Silurus, thank you for your suggestion. I have to say that as a recent fan of L numbers, I find this business very confusing! I recently bought these plecos. They were sold as L066 king tiger plecos. However I have seen king tiger plecos before and look very different. Hi all, I just wanted to say that I have read many people say that gold nuggets are very difficult to keep and thought I would share my experiences. I kept 3 of these fishes for three years in a 200 l tank and they were fine and healthy until unfortunately they died due to a filter and air pump ...

What a lovely fish.... I could be tempted with one of those. Where did it come from? Thank you. I got it from Aquajardin Southampton. Hi everyone. I was hoping someone would be able to ID this pleco for me. What do ...
