Lampy wrote:Barbie's room?? :P I suppose those were all Barbie's fish, too... ;)

Feeling very much like chopped liver...
Well, I did pay HER for the fish :-)

Catfish convention

Did someone say free beer? I have to say, this being my first fish convention, I had no idea what to expect. One thing I can say for certain though, I never thought I would be in Barbie's room until 3:00am. And free beer to boot! Couldn't ask for anything more. Had a great time, just wish I could ...

Cold water plecos

Thanks guys, I'll keep my eyes open for bulldogs and add a little more agitation to my water if I do find them. I would think that the colder the water the less agitation is needed to get the required disolved oxygen as it would naturally have more than warmer water. Anyone have any experience with ...

Algae eating machine for cooler tank

I use albino bristlenose is just about every tank I have. Except now I have a bunch of tanks that are kept pretty cool, or cold. Somewhere around 65F (18C) and is probably too cold for the ABN I have everywhere, they just seem to lay fairly lifeless (more so than normal) when I put them in these ...

My worry would be the fish being eaten. I would have to deal with Canadian Geese, Seagulls, racoons and ducks. Not to mention the common household cat and anything else I forgot about. Also, in the summer here it would get too hot for their liking, small ponds here would most likely get up to 27-30 ...

I just can't believe these prices. I just bought some Long-Fin ABNs at a fish store, they were on the small side about an inch or a little more. They were something like 2 for 18.00, which is kind of cheap but not that cheap. I have bought regular finned ABN for about 10-12 each around here.

Re: Flying domestically

Does anyone know if you can carry on or check your luggage with tropical fish in them? I just saw a recent article in a magazine (FAMA?) about this. They said most airlines will not let you carry on your fish. Most will allow you check them as check-in, while others will make you ship them as cargo ...

The reason for this, is because iodide IS iodine, combined with another element (or more). The reason for adding potassium iodide (or sodium iodide) to salt is for the iodine content, (element 53 on the periodic tables "I") not for any other reason. It does not matter the form of iodine, it is ...

Exactly why iodine is so often confused with iodide, to the point even salt manufacturers seem to have got them mixed up, I do not know. It must have historical roots, as it's so pervasive. The reason for this, is because iodide IS iodine, combined with another element (or more). The reason for ...

Corys are no where near as sensitive to salt as other cats. Go ahead and add a little bit. Other meds at half dose should be fine. Also, please be aware that C. panda like the water on the cool side, they start to weaken as the temperature rises. If you can, try 77 degrees (22 celcius). The temp is ...

As Cory is slang, (of a non-english word) there are few rules in regards to the plural, except one. If you capitalize the word you would add an S, otherwise you would pluralize it by changing the Y to ies. For instance, the name Sandy, if there is more than one Sandy you would spell if 'Sandys' not ...

Fish excreet ammonia through their gills during normal respiration. So, even a fish that never poops or pees, but is still "breathing" will contribute to the bioload of the tank. Whether or not snails add to the bioload by way of what they eat versus what they excreet, I have no idea. But, if they ...

Here are a couple more pics of the Orange Laser Corydoras in case you want them. These were taken about two months ago when I moved them from one tank to another, pictures were taken in a tiny container I use for photos. No flash, just using two different 150 watt halogen lights about five feet away ...
