Thanks so much for showing the types of habitat associated with tropicals. It really helped me visualize environments I have yet to see.

Re: what would it take
Ya an expert needs to look at them to see exactly what hybrid.
But, in my opinion I think the leiarius x TSN hybrid, is completely different in coloration and has a different body shape than the pimelodus hybrid (Has less of a torpedo shaped body).

Whats the difference between these two plecos when they're both albino?
(Has anyone seen this one called an albino red spotted high fin pleco)
[Mod edit: use clog tags to make it easier to see what the species is --Mats]

Re: Leiarius marmoratus mouth size?
Yah the tsnXleiarius, he is in 100gallon right now with 4 cherry barbs and 4 fathead minnows. Either he is to lazy or truly has no interest in eating other fish. I do know of a leiarius personally that has eaten fish 3/4ths its size.MY main reason for worry. I wouldn't mind an albino one of these ...

Re: Leiarius marmoratus mouth size?
Yah, I figured if the Xl catfish out paced them in growth, the plecos would be in a 100 gallon to grow out.
Hopefuly I find leiariu's with the disposition of my leiarius hybrid, who doesn't even try to eat or intimidate 1-2inch fish even though it is 11 inches for now.

Re: Leiarius marmoratus mouth size?
Thanks Victo , but I recently found a new lfs near me that has better and rarer stock that they can get in.
So a Rhino or a Royal pleco would be fine with the leiarius's and channel cat? Iam thinking so.

Re: Leiarius marmoratus mouth size?
Iam really leaning to the royal panaque, since the rhino pleco is so rare in my town, for a tankmate, also due to their body height and length.

Re: Leiarius x Tiger shovelnose hybrid
THanks victor. Its funny they do the same to salmon here in California, but not to make hybrids, but to farm the species so we don't rely on the wild poulation for salmon. I don't see why these farms in asia and south america would breed the parent species also, due to having to rely on catching ...

Leiarius marmoratus mouth size?
How wide and how tall is an adult marmoratus mouth?
Knowing this along with the total body size should help me find suitable tankmates that won't be able to be swallowed or choked down.
