Your description sounds like they're flicking in the sand,which basically is either ick,although cory don't tend to suffer from normally... or they just have an itch,possibly scratching themselves,if they are only doing it every so often its nothing to worry about :)

Why breed hybrids when there are hundreds are lovely species out there!

Hybrids are frowned upon in the cory world

Thats a hard one to choose has i love all 80+ of my corys...

But personally atm the ones that make me smile for their pure cheekiness & activity of kamikaze pilots around the tank are the Pandas

My 3 tanks hold mainly corys which are 15 Trilineatus(kept 12 offspring)16 Pandas(kept 7 offspring)15 pygmys(kept 6 offspring)6 Gold Lasers(have bred)6 Black schultzi,6 Skunks,habrosus(have bred)3 Albinos(kept 2 bronze & 1 albino offspring ...

I have a group of 9 metae's (recently added 3) due to the fact i did get them to breed,only for the eggs to be infertile everytime...
They get fed defrosted b/w daily and tank temp 23 degrees.

Now again they've started to spawn...is their anything i'm doing wrong with regards to the eggs not ...

The trilineatus & pandas have been spawning also,but i know where the tri's lay their eggs,and panda eggs are larger and take longer to hatch.so i can rule out both really.
The tri's never lay in bulk,maybe 8 or 9 dotted around the bottom of the tank,very rarily do they lay on the glass.

Is it possible for albinos to produce bronze fry? - my latest batch has albino fry and darker color fry...

I just wondered can albinos carry the bronze gene if they originally came from bronze parents further back down the line??

Eggs have hatched today ,so now have 10 wee fry,fingers crossed they make it...

I decided to put 3 of my gold lasers in the spare 10gal tank to see if they'd spawn...

Well within 24 hours and before i could start conditioning them,i came home to find them very active,then noticed the female carrying eggs!! :thumbsup:

I've added a video of the female carrying the eggs and ...

I use play sand for my mass of cories,and found no problems with it,has long has you stir the sand to keep it from having gas pockets forming then it should be fine

Update - all eggs apart from 20 on the back of the tank appeared to have hatched out

Well the adults have been busy again,another 120 eggs layed in the tank

So i have now moved the adults back to the main tank and left the eggs in situ to see if they'll hatch.

The 50 odd fry i had in the end yesterday have now been added to the tank

I decided to put my 3 albinos in a 10 gal with hope of breeding them in a month or so...

Well 6 days later they spawned,i didnt expect it to happen that quick :lol:
This morning i have 30 new fry with some more eggs to hatch :D

So pleased with them so far :thumbsup:

I bred 12 pygmateus corys in a 10 gal and they produced a lot of off spring,never touched the eggs,but the fry did disappear,so i think they munched a lot of them,i eventually did raise 15 corys from them recently in a fry tank and they are now 3-4 months old and in with the adults

i swear. im expecting the trilineatus to spawn today. they got a water top off 36 hours ago. they got blood worms last night. its pretty much a foregone conclusion. the 36 eggs i collected should be hatching on tuesday. so many fry. i love watching the newest fry reappear. as wigglers, they ...

My adults don't seem to realise they're not suppose to eat their fry :? after many eggs hatching and plenty of hidey holes,there only appear to be 4 juvi's in the main tank and no sightings of new fry.

My pygmys are still breeding,and i do believe my habrosus are also.
The other day i done a small clean up of the bottom using an airline hose,on checking the tub for any fry,i found 16 eggs,so rescued them,they did hatch out and whereas the pygmy fry are noticeable with their stripes,there ...

Mine love bbs,crushed up flakes & prima mini granules to name but a few

The adult Corydoras pygmeus will not eat their own larvae and fry. That is why colony breeding can be so successful and it eliminates the need of doing anything special with the eggs, larvae or fry. Little update
I lost a fair few of the wee fry in the net,so i have put them in the fry tank,and they seem to be doing ok :)
