Re: Peckolita sp L38?? Possible pair?

Hi all Just a quick update. Still talking to the shop about No3, and have asked for some more photos. They said that it is a bit skinny, hence the difference in shape. Anyone willing to hazard a guess of sex based off the initial images? My instinct says male just based of the head shape, but would ...

Re: Peckolita sp L38?? Possible pair?

Hi Acanthicus Thanks so much for the reply. I'm talking to the shop about availability as I had the same thought of leaving a single specimen in the shop. Unfortunately, the shop is a very long way from where I live, so popping in to see them isn't an option. I was a bit concerned about the shape of ...

Re: Peckolita sp L38?? Possible pair?

Hi Fallen leaves Thanks very much for the reply. Oh I hadnt seen L502. Looks pretty similar. I assume coming out of Suriname I may be hard pushed to get a solid answer? By the way, they have a third one available. It seems to have a bit of a strange body shape from above. Not sure if it is just ...

Peckolita sp L38?? Possible pair?

Hi all It's been a long time between drinks, but after a 10 year break from the hobby I am getting back in to it. Now living in Japan I have access to so awesome plecos up here. I have the opportunity to purchase what I believe is a pair of Pekoltia. The capture location is Suriname Colonine River ...

Golden Vampire Pleco (Leporacanthicus heterodon)

Hi All, I just purchaced 2 of these guys today, they measure around 11-13cmSL. Just wondering weather anyone is able to sex them? Im thinking a male and a female, judging by the head shape, fin size, and odontodes down the body. They are in very good condition, and have been in the shop for around a ...

Wow Janne that guy is awsome!!! What are the differences between L067 and L259, they both seem to be very similar plecos (other than the first pic of L259 in the cat-e-log)? Any idea when your artical will be out? Also, I picked up another 3 L067's today, would you be able to have a go at sexing ...

Leaf Litter - what is safe?

Hey All, I am in the process of setting up a tank for my Banjo Cats, and I am planning on using a layer of leaf litter for them. It funny you say that because fish (3) and (4) are both from different shipments. Fish (1) nd (4)are from a shipment that came into NZ around this time last year, and (2),(3),(5), and (6)only came into NZ a few weeks ago. Just out of interest are you judging this from the general head and body shape ...

Thanks Mats. I had a look at those pic's, but from what I can see the head of B. aleuropsis is a lot shorter, and rounder than that of my fish. Not sure whether that comes back to how the specimen was preserved/treated after capture, sexual dimorphism or what? But I, like you, don't have much of an ...

Banjo Cat's - Sexing and Species

Hi all, I have recently purchased 6 banjo cat's from a few of my LFS's. Soon I will be setting them up into their own Biotope tank in the hopes of getting them to breed for me one day, but for now they seem happy enough stirring up the silica sand in my discus tank. Anyway, I was hoping that ...

Just as a side note, are these fish very common in the trade? This is the first one I have seen in NZ, but thats not odd, because strange stuff doesn't often find its way here. What would you consider a normal price for them?

Our one is around $30NZD (about $15-20USD).

Hey all, I just got this fish in at work. It came in as Synodontis Zambensis, but after looking through the cat-e-log I have a feeling that its Hemisynodontis membranaceus. They were sold as White Tiger Whiptails. Male: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v601/HakuHuka/Fish/resizeTigerWhiptailmale-1 ...
