RIP Glen-Douglas

My L177 was on his back when I got home from work this evening. His fins and mouth was stretched out and he got a wound on his left side. Probably a battle?
It was six years since I got him.
Rest in peace.

Re: History of the Common pl*co [Hypostomus]

I raided my bookshelf, and found a picture of a pl*co in two of my childhood aquarium books. First out is "Plecostomus punctatus" from IPC Freshwater Tropical Fishes, 1976. According to the book it's from "southern brazil" and grows to 30 cm in the wild, but "considerably less in captivity". I have ...

I thought that it would be best to let the fish starve a little during the dry period and then feed them richly. But I should add that I have no experience of rainyseason simulation other then "by mistake" ( you forget to care the fish during the lazy summer, when the autum comes and you take care ...

Interesting topic. I had to make some comments to it: 1. The root-fruit, here in Sweden it' called cassava, is poisonous until you cook it. At least the spices that I've seen for sale here in Sweden. 2. Shane, very clever theory about the missing digestive bacteria. 3. Aren't Panaque's very ...

In other words the L018 has fewer large spots while the L177 has smaller more numerous spots. I´m quite sure it is the opposite. see http://www.planetcatfish.com/cotm/2000_12.PHP for more information. The problem IMHO is that all of them seem to have larger spots the smaller younger they are and i ...

I could only ask the same. Is he really a she?
I must say that I have only little experience myself but most of the articles I've read says that whatching their behaviour is the best way to tell the sex of plecos.

BTW -I feel very sorry for your losses.

They look very much the same as two plecos i bought as L-270 "chokladzebra". I got them directly from simontorp. (Large Swedish distr.)
I have had them for 2-3 years now and think their lines get thinner and thinner and are breaking up as the grow bigger.

Hi all! To night I´m going to pickup a 540 Liter (143 gallon). I´m going to place it at the same spot as my 222 liter (59 gallon) is occupying right now and I´m going to transfer all the fish, sand, roots, pumps etc. to the new tank. My current plan is to 1. Catch the fish and put them in a bucke ...
