I would like to put some leaves in my biotype aquarium. What kind of leaves are safe? I am thinking Oak. Should I get fallen leaves or pick them off the tree? Do they need to be boiled or dried in the oven? Will they contribute to algae growth?

On some other sites I have seen people do this with Pleco, they always write Pl*co. What's up with that?
