Corydoras spawn 3X in one month?

Post by Hongi »

Is it normal for them to lay eggs every week?? I have had 3 corydoras aenus for the past year with no spawning. Just recently I redid the tank as a species only biotype aquarium, with lots of wood, silica sand substrate. Shortly after that I had my first eggs stuck to the glass. I only saw one of the fry only once and never saw him again. About a week later I bought 3 more cories and the next day eggs were stuck to everything. I was looking at the tank while the fry were hatching, it was awesome, but they didnt last long before being eaten. This weekend they spawned again, 3rd time in a month!! It seems to happen on weekends, when nobody is in the office. Does anyone else have such orgiastic behavior from their fish? :D

I take it my fish like their home? 8)

when spawning.. my caudimaculatus spawned every week for 2 months on their rainy season schedule.. ended up being 8 spawns in total... not uncommon at all for them to spawn at rates like yours seem to be going
