What kind of leaves to use and what to do?

Post by Hongi »

I would like to put some leaves in my biotype aquarium. What kind of leaves are safe? I am thinking Oak. Should I get fallen leaves or pick them off the tree? Do they need to be boiled or dried in the oven? Will they contribute to algae growth?

Oak should work.
Should I get fallen leaves or pick them off the tree?
Get fallen leaves.
Do they need to be boiled or dried in the oven?
If they are fallen leaves, a little presoaking should do. Boiling is optional.
Will they contribute to algae growth?
No.
