Re: Few questions about Hypostomus luteus
As I wrote years ago - I was told that someone from Germany has bred them once but only a dozen of youngsters have survived, that's all I know. The fish is right now around 31cm, so growing slowly and morphing slowly as well :- https://images81.fotosik.pl/978/35c93d16bea9db4amed.jpg https://images83 ...

Re: Few questions about Hypostomus luteus
It is coming but very slowly. I'm not sure if the growth rate of this fish is OK? or it should be bigger right now? Temperature in tank is ranging from 23-24°C right now in winter (sometimes it might be quite cold for my L25, which becomes a little bit sluggish), then it's set to around 26°C, with f ...

Re: Few questions about Hypostomus luteus
If the guy who sold me said the truth mine is not wild caught but bred in captivity. The fish was looking exactly like the one I marked in the photo, came to my tank with really deformed fins.. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag9/piotrek_flex/luteus_06_zps225c143e.jpg I don't have any photos ...

Re: L600, L273, L25
I used to keep some plecos with L114, L24 and L25 and from what I've observed: 1. Pseudacanthicus are most agressive towards own species. 2. L25 seems to be a fight till die one, never runs away from a fight, L114 was most "social" and with enough wood and rocks I was keeping this pleco with L128 ...

Time flies. I've bought this fish around month later, 5cm long and right now it is 19-20cm, what do you think after 26 months? not too small?

Few questions about Hypostomus luteus
Hi guys, I have opportunity to buy Hypostomus luteus 5-7cm :- but first I need you to answer my few questions: 1. How fast it grows? 2. What do you think about keeping this pleco in temperature about from 24 to 26°C during the whole year. 3. Last but maybe most important, how about Pseudas as its ...

Treating plecos for Tetraonchus sp.
Ichtiologist found Tetraonchus gill flukes under the microscope in gills from my Astronotus ocellatus. I have to treat my 2 L24's and 2 Albino gibby's. Aquarium medications containing praziquantel were removed from pet stores in Poland a couple months ago, so I'm looking for something else... Anyone ...

I think that you should do an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Re: Which dose of methylene blue? (L24)[ black spots on my fish]
At the beginning I thought it may be a kind of protozoan infection. I don't want to try any medications until I'll be sure that they will help and be harmless, especially to my plecos. My oscars are 100% Asian and I have them for 2 years. Is it possible that they have those parasites for 2 years? I ...

Re: Which dose of methylene blue? (L24)
My oscars aren't wild caught. I also haven't kept them in a pond. This parasite is not harmless, fish show signs of irritation, scratch against objects.

My problem looks like black spot disease but in freshwater?! I haven't decided yet to start medicating because I don't know what kind of parasite it is... Which dose of methylene blue? (L24)
Which dose of methylene blue will be safe for L24? (please give me the final concentration in ppm, mg/l etc.)
*Methylene blue or malachite green - which is safer? If it isn't problem could you tell me the dosage of malachite green (hydrochloride/oxolate) harmless to my L24?
THX for help

Re: ID my Pseudacanthicus: L25 or maybe L24?
As I wrote, I've got him for two weeks. It's very possible that his lack of color is a dietary issue because his recent owner didn't take care of him. I think two weeks is too short time to get well coloured, even when eating good. My other L24 doesn't look very similar: http://farm4.static.flickr ...

Thanks Borbi
That's good news because my second Pseuda is also L24. I was searching for L24 but when I saw this one I got it without being sure of his L-number.
Can anyone confirm that he's 100% L24?

Re: ID my Pseudacanthicus: L25 or maybe L24?
What are you feeding him? Prawns and mussels are his favourite. He also eats fishes, but they must be 'fresh'. He doesn't like frozen stines from my aquarium store. I give him tiger barb once for a few days, and after night there are only fishbones  Currently he doesn't eat: JBL NovoPleco ...

I've got this Pseuda for two weeks. These photos were taken few days after I get it. Now he is in definitely better condition. 16-17cms long. My question is: What do you think? is it L25 or L24? If it's infection one of causes may be weakening as a result of water quality, how high your ammonia, nitrites and nitrates levels are? Those fish are quite sensitive about that.

Re: whats wrong with my L273?
You can try with Metronidazole or other nitroimidazole treatment, safe dosage: 20 mg/l + if it's possible try to serve metro with food (I'm a follower of cureing internal diseases giving medicine also in food).
