Re: No Fishing In Seychelles
Agreed on the first one (maybe Acanthurus mata?) - but to me the middle one looks like a wrasse, (Cheilinus sp.?) while the bottom one appears to be a Siganid.
I'm no expert, though!

Re: Identification requested for this Catfish
Hey, sorry about the fish. This isn't a catfish, but a loach. I'm pretty sure that it belongs to the genus Homaloptera . There are several species in that genus that look quite similar. Have a look at the following link about one of these species (with patterns that really are very similar to those ...

Well, I'm not an expert on loricariids by any means, but these reminded me of very young . Compare them to the pictures of very small , for example.

Plotosus lineatus ? Correct (only catfish to migrate from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean through the Suez canal, a so called lessepsian migration) and... Re: what am I?
If you did not have a peek at pages 9 & 10 of this thread, I must say you're very good! It took people a lot longer to find this one out (in 2009 b-)). The song is "I think I'm gogo" by Squeeze, which used to be the band Jools Holland played in. I didn't, but it was quite tempting to check if I was ...

Short beard - brevibarbis.
"Gogo" dancer.
Two synonyms with different generic names but same specific name.
I'm not sure about which song you mean, but I did find the musician called Jools Holland.

What were your first aquarium books?
Hey everyone! Inspired by last year's "What was your first catfish and year?" thread, I decided to start a thread about our first aquarium books! What were your first aquarium books? Which catfish species were represented, if any? Under what names were they listed? I got my very first aquarium book ...

I was looking through the Cat-eLog and noticed that looked very similar, at least in regard to the eye, fins and the location of the caudal spot.

Re: Planning a tank for Kryptopterus minor.
They hang out in shaded areas most of the time. If they think that food is on the way then they swim out and about. The only filter/pump is the Juwel one, and it's doing an okay job - it's even a bit too much flow for the Kryptopterus at some spots. I don't know how they'd react to dithers but it's ...

Well, I got a group of 14 Kryptopterus minor back in July - though I've just recently lost one, I'm afraid. The tank looks a bit worse now as I haven't taken such good care of the plants, but I could upload a more recent picture soon. :) The remaining ones are doing very well, eating dry food and ...

Re: Dwarf Pangasius
I agree that a picture would be helpful. The name used is quite confusing, in my opinion, as it is not likely to be both a "dwarf" and a Pangasius! Over here (Sweden) I've seen Pseudeutropius moolenburghae (or a similar species - it is the scientific name they list) listed as "Dvärg Hajmal" - which ...

I think that they mistook the title of a page they were using for research for the common name, or something along those lines.
It would be fun if the name actually stuck - and would, one day, have to be added as a common name in the Cat-eLog!

I'm more curious as to what the divers were trying to do with the model. Catch the Storsjöodjuret? Heh, I was wondering about that too! Maybe it is an attempt to make a model of the monster itself?
