Small Planet: Pune Mirror

Post by Jools »

A certain roving Planet contributor found this article in a local Indian newspaper called the Pune Mirror. No guesses what well known catfish website they used while researching the piece...

It appears the Planet Catfish is !

Huh??

"Two other species Planet Catfish (mystus malabaricus) and Butter Catfish (ompok bimaculatus) were also found to be near threatened as per the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). "

Is it a typo, letter switch? Does the word "planet" sound like any common names for the fish coupled with the word "catfish"?

I think that they mistook the title of a page they were using for research for the common name, or something along those lines.

It would be fun if the name actually stuck - and would, one day, have to be added as a common name in the Cat-eLog! :d
