2 is Rio Tocantins pop. and rests are Rio Xingu.
Janne, could you explain why? I wasnt thinking about either of them and would love to know what the features to look for are.
Thats quite a mixup with the two rivers, how come it hasn't been rectified in the Cat-elog? Are any Panaque sp. cf ...

Re: ID for two L027
Both fish are Rio Xingu population. They are just variants within that pop.
Hi, just wanted to get some opinions on these two L027. Im interested in the potential rivers more than the L/LDA number designation. I dont know anything about their actual catch locations, just my own opinion.

I recommend poplar, chestnuts tree, or pine for royal pleco.
If you can find them on forested floor, they will be perfect.
Just chose ones fairly decomposed (best time to do this is
in winter, so no bugs on wood). Don't wash too much. Just
remove bark and some unwanted debris around your pieces then ...

Three royal Panaqs would be better than just two.
If two of your fish are relatively same size, they compete until either one heavily stressed. Three fish is a good number to reduce such a stressed condition which is very often seen in big Panaque spp. Moreover, fish tend to eat food more in group ...

Panaque sp.(1) image
Hi, Jools.
I think the image in "Panaque sp.(1)" is my picture.
It is the same individual seen in Panaque nigrolineatus (bottom, white one). This fish changed colour time after time, so I sent you both gray and white pics.
Thanks,
H.N

Fyi
An original Angelicus pleco is Hypostomus regani imported to Japan by Minoru Matsuzaka in late 80's.
He named it as "Angelicus pleco" because fish has a pattern of Synodontis angelicus when he first saw that pleco in the habitat.
Your photo does not look like H. regani, but I saw a few diff spp ...
