I'll try feeding more. Maybe try twice per day for a while and see if that helps.
With regards to the mix of fish, I actually like having the different kinds and colors of fish. My wife really likes the "Parrot Thingy" so I'm not sure if I have much choice there.
I feed the fish once at night before I go to bed. After I put the food in, I turn off the lights. This is what I've been doing for the last year and haven't had problems.
With regard to water changes, I change the water about every other week.
For other fish, he lives in a 55 gallon with the ...
I have a Synodontis eupterus who is about 1 year old. He's about 4-5" long and has done excellent in my 55 gallon tank.
Over the last 2 weeks he has really started acting strange. His breathing has become VERY rapid, much more so that any of the other fish in the tank. I've also noticed that it ...
I've recently purchased a leopard cactus pleco and I'm wondering how I should actually feed it. The site here talks about prawns, mussels, etc. Thats fine, but I'm not sure if I've ever seen him move from his hiding place.
Should I try to put something at the bottom, turn out the lights, and wait ...
Thanks for the info. I actually have two juvenile bulldog's that I've had for a month now. I probably see one of them about every other day. All the other time they are hiding in the caves of my fake decorations. I've seen them a few times on the walls of the aquarium but it doesn't seem like they ...
I think you may be right. It does look like a Hypancistrus inspector (L201). When I did a search for that on this forum, other people had described the L201 as a "Snowball". But the Catelog gives "Snowball" as a L102.
Is "snowball" more of a common name used for different plecos such as the L201 ...
Yea, based on the info and pics in the Catelog, both of the fish are mislabled. I'm just trying to figure out what I have in case I need to return one or both of them.
Just bought 2 plecos at the LFS and I believe they had both of them mislabeled. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
"Snowball Pleco" (I'm not sure what this one is) http://home.wideopenwest.com/~pdnovak/Snowball0008.JPG http://home.wideopenwest.com/~pdnovak/Snowball0013.JPG http://home ...
Anyone ever hear of a "Magnum Pleco"? They had a sign up for it at my LFS, but I couldn't see anything in the tank (a lot of cover) so I'm not sure what it looked like.
I have read a lot of different info on the Synodontis eupterus. I have had one now for about 4 weeks. He is about 3 inches long at this point.
He is extremely shy during the day. He likes to hide in a rock formation and is typically upside down or vertical with his mouth on the rocks but he doesn't ...
I shudder to think about what it was like to try to do this 10-15 years ago when there was no such thing as the internet and information was much scarcer.
You actually had to trust people to know what they were talking about, which in most cases they don't.
I've had 0 readings for Ammonia and Nitrites for the last 2 weeks. I have gotten a spike twice when I added more fish and I think I was feeding them too much. I did a water change and cutback on the amount of food I was giving them and the readings stayed at 0.
I'm going to try to take a picture tonight. He likes to hide upside down on one of my rock formations, but I'll try to get a good picture taken.
The PH is a little high, around 8.2. (unfortunately, my tap water is pretty high). I've been testing for Ammonia and Nitrites daily and have been doing ...
I am having problems with plecos and certain Cats in my tank. To date, I've had a Feather Fin Syno and a Leopard Pleco both die. I now have an Syno Angelicus in my tank and I think he's coming down with the same thing.
They seem to get a film over their bodies and something that looks like dull ...
He does eat off the bottom, but doesn't really take care of leftovers. From what I've seen, he seems to like bloodworms and such. Doesn't go for the sinking pellets or flakes that fall.
I've read the descriptions of this Cat and they indicate no issues with eating. I've tried multiple different types of sinking pellets (shrimp, omnivore mix, etc) but it doesn't seem to be eating anything. I bought him 4 days ago. I also have dried blood worms but they stay at the top and get eaten ...
