Thanks

I'll try feeding more. Maybe try twice per day for a while and see if that helps.

With regards to the mix of fish, I actually like having the different kinds and colors of fish. My wife really likes the "Parrot Thingy" so I'm not sure if I have much choice there. :-)

Feeding and other fish

I feed the fish once at night before I go to bed. After I put the food in, I turn off the lights. This is what I've been doing for the last year and haven't had problems. With regard to water changes, I change the water about every other week. For other fish, he lives in a 55 gallon with the ...

Synodontis eupterus acting very weird

I have a Synodontis eupterus who is about 1 year old. He's about 4-5" long and has done excellent in my 55 gallon tank. Over the last 2 weeks he has really started acting strange. His breathing has become VERY rapid, much more so that any of the other fish in the tank. I've also noticed that it ...

How to feed my Leopard Cactus Pleco

I've recently purchased a leopard cactus pleco and I'm wondering how I should actually feed it. The site here talks about prawns, mussels, etc. Thats fine, but I'm not sure if I've ever seen him move from his hiding place. Should I try to put something at the bottom, turn out the lights, and wait ...

Lemon Spotted Green - L200 : What do feed?

For people who currently have an L200 or similar species, what do you feed it? The description on here was pretty vague.

Thanks for the info. I actually have two juvenile bulldog's that I've had for a month now. I probably see one of them about every other day. All the other time they are hiding in the caves of my fake decorations. I've seen them a few times on the walls of the aquarium but it doesn't seem like they ...

What is a good algae eater

I'm looking for a pleco of medium sized (basically, anything under 10-12") that does well eating algae off the side of a tank.

I've seen this question asked before in the forum but the only answer I've seen are for plecos that get bigger than 15" like a Gibby.

Any ideas?

I think you may be right. It does look like a Hypancistrus inspector (L201). When I did a search for that on this forum, other people had described the L201 as a "Snowball". But the Catelog gives "Snowball" as a L102. Is "snowball" more of a common name used for different plecos such as the L201 ...

I'll try to get a picture of the suckermouth. He hasn't been on the front or side glass, so it might have to wait til he goes up there.

Thanks.

Thanks all. I really appreciate the help. I think I'll have a trip back to the LFS tomorrow and let them know that instead of a 4" butterfly, they are selling people an 18" gibbi. What has peoples experience been with LFS's buying back larger fish? I don't mind keeping the fish until its gets to be ...

Yea, based on the info and pics in the Catelog, both of the fish are mislabled. I'm just trying to figure out what I have in case I need to return one or both of them.

Anyone ever hear of a "Magnum Pleco"? They had a sign up for it at my LFS, but I couldn't see anything in the tank (a lot of cover) so I'm not sure what it looked like.

Synodontis eupterus - is he acting normal

I have read a lot of different info on the Synodontis eupterus. I have had one now for about 4 weeks. He is about 3 inches long at this point. He is extremely shy during the day. He likes to hide in a rock formation and is typically upside down or vertical with his mouth on the rocks but he doesn't ...

I shudder to think about what it was like to try to do this 10-15 years ago when there was no such thing as the internet and information was much scarcer. You actually had to trust people to know what they were talking about, which in most cases they don't. Misty, don't feel bad. Most people around ...

Well, I've been treating the tank for Ich for over a week now, so hopefully he'll get better.

I've had 0 readings for Ammonia and Nitrites for the last 2 weeks. I have gotten a spike twice when I added more fish and I think I was feeding them too much. I did a water change and cutback on the amount of food I was giving them and the readings stayed at 0. Because Cats and Plecos are scaleless ...

Catfish / Pleco health problems

I am having problems with plecos and certain Cats in my tank. To date, I've had a Feather Fin Syno and a Leopard Pleco both die. I now have an Syno Angelicus in my tank and I think he's coming down with the same thing. They seem to get a film over their bodies and something that looks like dull ...

Really....he'll eat shrimp pellets and flakes. I've only had him in the tank for about 2 weeks, so he might still be a little stressed out and weary. He has been opening up a little more the past few days, so maybe he'll start eating those as well. We'll see. You think the tank won't be able to ...

He does eat off the bottom, but doesn't really take care of leftovers. From what I've seen, he seems to like bloodworms and such. Doesn't go for the sinking pellets or flakes that fall.

What kind of bottom feeders to get?

I have a 55 gallon tank with medium fish in it. I have some angels, silver dollars, gourami's in the middle and top. At the bottom, I currently have a Leopard Pleco, a four-lined Cat, and a Peacock Spiny Eel. I'm looking for 1 or 2 bottom feeder fish that will eat left-overs on the bottom. It seems ...

Pim. Blochii not eating (at least not that I know of)

I've read the descriptions of this Cat and they indicate no issues with eating. I've tried multiple different types of sinking pellets (shrimp, omnivore mix, etc) but it doesn't seem to be eating anything. I bought him 4 days ago. I also have dried blood worms but they stay at the top and get eaten ...

What pleco to get????

I recently purchased a $50 "gold spotted" L005 pleco which the store indicated would get 7-8" long which is what I was looking for. I got home to found out they only get 4". I'm returning the fish but was wondering which fish to get? I have a 55 gallon tank and do not want to get a pleco that gets ...
