Re: I think this is a Reynoldsi. Agree?

Ooops! didn't realize the dorsal was cut off. I was so busy trying to get a good shot of the body. I'll see if I got one with the dorsal. I know that's important in identifying it.

Re: New tank mates for my Corys, please give advice!

I have a 15 gallon and a ton of fish in it! LOL! It's heavily planted and well established. I have about 6 different species of cories and 8 each of neon tetras and rummy nose tetras. Both are very small fish, yet very colorful and lively. Oh! I also have a betta in there! Keeping it clean keeps ...

I think this is a Reynoldsi. Agree?

Went to my favorite aquarium shop to get some Panda cories. I had had 6, but over the years they died one by one, leaving me with just one, so I wanted to get her some company. While there, I saw this one cory all alone and felt sorry for it. I really wished there was more than one, but it seems to ...

No,no, no! I'd love them but it's expensive to ship them. You need someone to clear them through customs, etc. That's why you have to find an exporter. They take care of that.

Good luck! I love your fish!

Re: New to the Cory Hobby, Looking for Advice

I use CaribSea Torpedo Beach and my cories are doing great! They root around in it no problem. It's a fine, smooth gravel. I agree about the ph. As long as it's not something ridiculous - where I was living previously the ph was over 8! - once they acclimate to it, they'll be fine. The key is ...

Re: Pepper in HD

Yep, they're right. That's the female. Looks just like my big fat girl! The boys chase her all the time and I've watched them spawn many times. In fact it was cool seeing her holding eggs in her fins one time. I tried to video it, but she went into the plants before I got much of it.

Re: Bought these with the C. Julii from my LFS

I love cories too! I have a 15 gallon with nothing but cories and a betta. Oh and a few ghost shrimp. :d I don't think those are elegans. They are very cool though! I have 7 species - panda, albino, paleatus, trilineatus, metae, leucomelas and something that looks very similar to the leucomelas but ...

Re: leopard cories and ecocomplete substrate

I have an Eclipse 6 gallon that I used eco complete in, as I planted it and only had a betta in it. Had it set up for several years. Then I decided to add some pandas and paleatus'. I was afraid of the sharp edges of the EC, so added some smoother, small gravel a little at a time over it, so I ...

What's my cory?

I found two of these today at my local aquarium shop. I looked through all the cory pix, but couldn't find anything that looked like them. The dot pattern on their sides looks like an oval bulls eye pattern. They're about the same size as my pandas - which were actually following one around. http ...

Re: Catfish sting?

I found that out the hard way, when I had some cories in a critter keeper and one of my cats knocked it over. In my haste to scoop my poor babies off the floor, I touched one of them and holy cow! did that hurt! I thought I sliced my finger open! I did a search here and found that yes, they can ...

Re: Panda Corys beating each other up?

I don't know much about loaches at all, but could they be doing it? I had a panda that had a torn fin a couple of weeks ago and couldn't figure out why either. I thought he might have gotten injured on a piece of decoration, (they get crazy during spawning and sometimes feeding frenzy and fly in and ...

I stopped into an aquarium shop around here this afternoon as they have a TON of different cories and I wanted to see if they had anything I couldn't resist. Fortunately they didn't. But they DID have two tanks that were joined by two tubes and I thought of this thread. Here are a couple of ...

Re: Injured cory :-(

Well, I finally found my little guy and unfortunately he was dead. :( He was under a big bunch of java fern that's attached to a decoration. He looked like he was just resting, but I noticed the bottom half of his tail fin was now gone as well. When I moved the plants a bit he didn't move, so I used ...

Re: Injured cory :-(

Hi guys, thanks. I don't feel it's fin rot - all my fish are very healthy looking and the fin looked like it was bitten or torn. I think he might have gotten caught on one of the decorations. They are very active at times and when the paleatus go into a spawn frenzy, watch out! LOL! Sometimes they ...

Injured cory :-(

Hey all, when I got home last night I noticed one of my pandas didn't seem right. Unfortunately I didn't get a good look at him before he darted off and hid, but his tail looked funny, like it was torn or something. Later on, as I was going to bed, I checked the tank and the poor thing was just ...

There's a great article on ich in a magazine I picked up in Petco called Aquarium Fish International. It explains the life cycle of ich and that it actually can only be killed after the cysts fall off the fish and the free swimming "theronts" (sounds like a stage in Scientology! LOL!) are about ...

Re: Is anybody using "Mac's" grape driftwood for their pl*co

I've used it too, but I would boil the hell out of it! LOL! In my original betta tanks, I boiled it first, to get rid of the tannins, so I had no problems. When I set up my 15 gallon cory tank, I only used the scalding water from my tap to soak it for several days, but that was not enough. There was ...

Which cory is this?

I thought it might be an ornatus, but it has more spots than lines. The body is slightly gold colored and there is a gold stripe in front of the gills behind the eyes. The coloring doesn't show up well in my crappy photo.
