Re: Diving in Xingu

Hi unblinded, this is a holding box for the ones captured using manual collection method (only the big ones, L-14, L-25, L-27 and others adults specimes). For small ones, they use a different storage. http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w499/gimeneshj/P1000271_zps3cce602f.jpg http://i1078 ...

Re: breeding panaque?

rob... this for me is more a territorial thing going on... keeping Synodontis species while waiting for a breeding attempt .. i think is not a good idea then the first one who will find any fry outside of the cave will be the synos.. as really checking each corner in the tank for food.... :-\ during ...

Re: L204 Breeding

hi there,
the magic cave size is always the width of the body plus one side fin. So the male gets in easily and can squeeze itself easy with both sidefins if needed...

hi there, best is to feed them with wormlike live food...less moaquito larvae..but worms...like Tubifex tubifex...the females should prudoce much more eggs than with any other food...a friend told me. keep them in normal middle hars water during 2-3 weeks then make waterchanges 50% 1st day 80% 2nd ...

hi james, actually my idea is wide spread i guess...specially in raising L's :) here are my systems...i do not use acrylic glass anymore as little scratches can cut sensitive bellies of the fry... http://www.veloofahren.ch/Aquarium/einhaengebecken.htm the function is this: water gets pumped in by an ...

Re: Pictures of Catfish wood caves wanted...

hi guys, i think it is a lot of work depenting on the wood to drill and carve caves in there... i just use bamboo from tha garden centre! water it for a while then rinse in hot water (shower) and place it in the tank...it might stink a bit from watering ...it may also contain some bacterial ...

hi susan, looks nice. but dont forget...sturisoma festivum needs to be well fed until they reach over 5 to 6cm they can always die, soon as there is a lack of enough food! make enough waterchanges as you need to feed enough so nitrate stays low and will not brake their growth...(high nitrate levels ...

hi squid (is this really your name  )
I also feed my cats patatoes as well as sweet patatoes.
garlic is mixed into self made fish food...as garlic should contain some antibiotic funtion...which might be no too bad. but i never tried garlic in peaces...

Re: PH too low for fry tank?

hi guys, the low ph thing about loosing eggs or fry is as far i'd guess only because acidic water is less suitable for bacterias...that's why for example you dont need to be scared that eggs of Paracheirodon axelrodi would get fungus...they are only ready when the water is really soft. i had mine at ...

hi there, a photo straight from the top would be cool. i also recommend mats tips a bit of sand and no pyramid pipes but flat a bit longer then the ones you have...all of these pipes (for 5 L200 about 8 pipes) cover all pipes with the wood. better is more then not enough wood as they also feed from ...

hi Larry? (is this your name?) i also had many questions about "why metal and no plastic, nylon or other materials... the holes in the mesh are about 2x2mm the wire itself about 0,5mm so it is very stable. a mesh is softer, needs to be cleaned carefully and i guess is less strong to hold the airpipe ...
