Re: Doumea species

Amphilius are definitely nice fish, but the problem is that i can only find 2 species from Cameroon(A. korupi and A. longirostris), and from both these species there's almost no info on the net. Both species arent even listed in the cat-elog, for example. Only valuable info i can find about these 2 ...

Re: Doumea species

go for Amphilius

much easier to keep than Phractura or Doumea and still a true oddball.

Re: Doumea species

As far as i understand, Doumea suffer in transit & are hard to acclimatise :( . They are a very seldom encountered genera though & if you were to go for them a species tank would be best or extremely carefully selected tankmates.

Some of the synos or microsynos are the best option by far :D

Re: Doumea species

I was thinking of the Chiloglanis, Phractura and I was lumping the Doumea in with them.

Off that particular list some of the small synodontis or microsynodontis would be a good choice.

in my eyes, the Doumea look less fragile, but i wasnt sure, thats why i asked if anyone ever had them. Syno's ...

Re: Doumea species

I think some of these fish you have mentioned do not ship very well, if you did get some it would be best to keep them in a species only tank until you knew they were comfortable and eating well and have become familiar with their likes and dislikes.

It would be a most interesting project.

Here ...

Doumea species

Hey all.

I've got 1 nearly empty tank, so i decided to make it a Cameroon tank. I know someone who has some contacts in Cameroon and I will probably be able to get some wildcaught fish from there. So i was checking fishbase and some other sites to see what fish i can keep with my Benitochromis(or ...

L201?

what do you think this is? The owner bought it as a Hypancistrus inspector, L201, but it doesn't really look simular to the ones I can find on internet and the Cat-eLog.

Re: Dying L-200

A very important parameter to take a look at with most Orinoco mainstream and tributary loricarids is D.O. - The load of fish, circulation of the water column, among several other factors, such as amount of food and residues settling on bottom and if there is any CO2 supplementation can be ...

I wounder if they could have starved to death with all those eartheater types I don't know if anything would be left after a feeding. They are good at finding everything on the tank bottom. I don't know if your L200 got enough to eat.

What is your routine for feeding the L200. Did they look thin ...

yup, it's an Satanoperca, but those species are hard to identify. Some species even look 100% alike, but the only thing different is the breeding process. I think it's some kind of leucosticta or jurupari, but don't shoot me if I'm wrong ;)

I don't think its any kind of parasite, usually you'll notice something different and it doesn't take 2 weeks between victim 1 and victim 2.

Believe me, I've checked my fish thoroughly, but I couldn't find anything which isn't supposed to be there ;)

I don't have all tests at home(like ammonia ...

2 dead L200 in 2 weeks

Hey all.

I had 6 L200 in my South-American tank, but about 2 weeks ago, 1 of the 6 suddenly died, without any signs of sickness or anything. The day before that, I saw all 6 of them, but when I found him(or her, I dunno ;)) it smelled and looked like it died a couple of days ago.

The same thing ...

Hi

Because of problems with sand/current - I tried to plant the E. Tenellus in thin pieces of filtermaterial (you know - this black or blue foam stuff :D ?) - and a little sand to cover it all..
Perhaps this could work out with your Satanoperca ?

Best regards

Echinodorus Bolivianus
Echinodorus Tennelus
Ceratophyllum demersum

L128 and Hemiancistrus subviridis are very agressive fish with plants. They can destroy even strong plants like Anubias
ok, that explains it. I couldn't find that in the Cat-eLog, but I knew Baryancistrus is a planteater as well, that's why I first though it should be the B. demantoides.

These ...

Rense,
Line could easily be correct that differences in the angle the photos were taken at are influencing our identifications. Any chance of a side by side photo of the two fish above in a photo tank? That would help a lot.

If they are the same fish you placed in your icon picture, IMO, they are hemiancistrus. The adipose-dorsal gap is a bit large. I assume, though, given the advice already given on the topic, that I'm wrong.

A few months back, L200 changed name, again. But this time they split in in 2 different species, Hemiancistrus subviridis and Baryancistrus demantoides.
