Unusual Dinning Expeirence

Post by silvernes »

I was under the impression that common plecos were almost completely vegetarian (and perhaps that is wrong) but recently a my little herbivores have been snacking on cod-fish meat being fed to their carnivorus catfish tank-mate.

Are they missing something in their diet? Or is this recorded natural behaviour?

They seem to quite enjoy it :?

Common plecos aren't vegetarian. They're omnivorous, with a preference for animal matter.

Ah, see I had thought they just got more omnivorous as they aged (mine is about 6 months & I'm unsure of his buddies age) and that maybe in 2 years they'd be more interested in bloodworms & such :)

Well then - looks like I'm going to be buying a whole lot more Cod :D
(Which is a great white-meat for fish all mine really enjoy it and it's fairly cheap :))
