Cory Shoaling

Post by AliceH »

My LFS has a tank of corys called melanistius. Just by chance my first two fishes purchased from this tank turned out to be agassizii. Positive. I went back at different intervals and purchased three more. I wound up with 3 aggassizii and two questionably Pilateus? Any way, I have "lost" 3 fishes. I had an outbreak of columnaris 4 weeks ago and one platy died. The other is still not herself and is in the q-tank now. All other fishes are fine except for the "missing" cories and one missing neon. I never found bodies. Tank parameters are totally healthy. I keep the tank at 77 farenheit. What cories will shoal with my two remaining agassizii? It's hit or miss trying to find them. I'm so sad. Right now my remaining two just hide most of the day, especially if they see me come into the room. I think there can be such a thing as too much dickering with the tank.

Hiya alice :) Sorry to hear about the loss of your fish, the fish that went missing that were never found were probably eaten by tankmates,What other fish are in the tank ?
How often and how much water do you change? What temp is the water you use for the water changes? Are you using dechlorinated water ? We could really do with more info on the tank and how long it's been up and running.

Sorry-29 gallon; 77 degrees. 2 aggassizii, 4 baby platys, 2 pearl gouramis, 8 neon tetras, 2 bolivian rams, 3 otocinclus. Planted heavily and has a smooth stone mulch over apm. It's been up and running since early January. Running smoothly for about 8 weeks now. Weekly 5-gallon water changes and all readings are fine. pH is 8 out of the tap but settles to about 7.2 in the tank. Hardness is 5.
