Yes, I think all Acanthicus spp. (Pseudacanthicus, Leproacanthicus, Meglancistrus, Acanthicus) are carnivorus. They do accept vegies occasionally though.

Hi!
Well i tend to think that basically almost every Loricariidae species are opportunistic fish that will eat whatever they could find, still a very meaty diet for some species are not very required as they would come to eat these just once in a while!
But I am really getting off topic!
I'll open a new topic for this!
Cheers

I tend to agree with rusty on pseudacanthicus, although mine has an affinity for my sponge filters too.

I also agree with yan, plecos, and indeed many fish, eat what they can, some more readily than others...

Maybe thats why some call them "scavenges"? I spotted my Chaestostoma sp. chewing happily on my dead wood shrimp the other day. Guess it like fresh dead prawns than those frozen prawns that I'm feeding occasionally.

Maybe it thought that it was called wood shrimp for a good reason! :)

But seriously, a couple of years ago when we first heard of people feeding dog food to their plecos, it seemed like a revelation! Nowadays we take it for granted that most Lori spp. enjoy occasional meaty treats and many are largely carnivorous. The state of our collective knowledge has advanced pretty quickly in a few years.
