Akysis Vespa where can I get some

Post by French47 »

Hello to all, I am desperately trying to source Akysis Vespa for my temperate hill stream tank.
I live in Mid Sussex and to date I have failed to find anyone with this fish.
Can I ask through this site does anyone know where I might find a couple.
Thank you

Pier Aquatics, Wigan have some small Akysis in. I can't remember for definite but I think they may be vespa.

Wholesale Tropicals (Bethnal Green Rd; London)generally have a couple of species in - haven't been this year but well worth giving them a call.

Pier is a really great shop & could probably get some without much difficulty if the ones they have aren't vespa.

Avoid searching through Tropical Fish Finder as availability is generally woefully out-of-date.

Pier aquatics do have them. £3.95 each. They do mail order if it is too far for you but if you like catfish I recommend you go!

Hi to all, A big thank you to The Darkone, Richard B and Squidward for your input. Wigan is 257 miles from where I live, I looked at Aquarist classified I see one chap is advertising but my e-mails to him bounced and the phone line is out. I will phone wholesale tropicals this morning. I did think of mail order, but the thought of fish traveling by post does not turn me on, saying that I have never had experience of receiving fish by post.
What do the members think?

Neil at Pier really takes pride in his fish & shipping from him is virtually no different to picking the fish up yourself.

Pier know what they are doing. As Mike said, if you think how long they are in transit when they come from their country of origin, 250 miles is nothing.
