How would you split your Ls in different Tanks

Hi All,

I need your help and input. How would you split up your Ls as follows

I have following Tanks
2 tanks , each 150L x 50H x 45W
4 tanks , each 90L x 45H x 60W

I have following Ls
3 x LG6 - Adults
6 x L004 - young adults 7-8cm
2 x L134 - an adult pair 10-12cm
2 x L377 - Juvenile pair pair 7-9cm
5 x L129 - Juvies 5-6cm
6 x L080 - Juvies 5-6cm
L333 x 5 , adults 2M 3F at 10-11cm
4 x L097 - Juvies 8-10cm

So 6 tanks and 8 types of Ls.
What would you suggest ?

ii) 5 x L129

4 tanks , each 90L x 45H x 60W
i) 6 x L004
ii) 2 x L134 & 2 x L377
iii) L333 x 5
iv) 6 x L080

LG6 - you can put in any tank you like, but I would suggest with the L129s.

Thats how I woul keep them IMO

I'm not going to list which fish I think belong together, but there are a few factors to take into account, listed in roughly the "most important -> least important".

• Interbreeding/hybridisation.
  You don't want hybrids, so keeping fish of the same genus in the same tank is generally a bad idea.
• Food compatibility & feeding "alertness".
  Fish that have different food requirements, such as herbivores and carnivores should be kept separate, as the risk is that your herbivores get too much high-protein/low-fibre in their diet.
  Also, fish that are quick to go out and find food must not be kept with "shy" and retiring species that don't come out for food.
• Size.
  Obvious, perhaps, but the tank should be big enough for the fish!
• Aggression/territories
  All fish need their own "place" in the tank, and they need to not have some other fish chase it whenever it creeps out of it's hiding space.
• Water conditions
  Temperature, hardness (TDS/EC/GH/KH), pH, etc should be within the "right" range for the different fish in the tank.
• Caves/hiding spaces.
  Caves and decorations of suitable size and material need to be present in the tank. Some fish like wood, others prefer stone material for hiding spaces, and others aren't too bothered.

This is not a complete list, but if you think along those lines, and sort of list each species with "what its needs and behaviours are" with regards to the above, you can probably make your own decision of what goes where.

thanks all. I have them all seperate at the moment but building a new rack. Will take all your notes on bord and have generally followed these anyway. cheers jk

If it is for breeding purposes I think each species should have its own tank if possible. As far as I am aware L134's are particularly aggressive so will want to be on their own.
