Synodontis filamentosa

I have a chance to get Syn. filamentosa. My concern is the temp. Everything I read it should be 69 - 75. The tank I would be putting it in is 79-80 degrees. Is that going to be a problem?

Probably ok, but you need to observe the fish and see if it's loosing weight - if so, it's too warm [or something else is wrong].

These appear to be pretty rare, so you may want to take some photos and e-mail them to mats at planetcatfish dot com and a copy to webmaster on this site.

Most of the other Synodontis found in the same systems as

Synodontis filamentosa

are fairly durable and adaptable, I do not see any reason why this species would not be the same, I would think these would have no problem at that temperature...but that said I have not personally kept this species.

This should be ok but ensure the temp goes no further. Filamentosa seem much more scarce these days & they have never been readily available. What other bottom dwellers will be with it? I have noted some quite aggressive tendencies but i recall Chrysichthys has no troubles with his

My two are quite shy. They get along fine with each other, but I don't think they would do well with some of the more aggressive species. As for the temperature, I think 79-80 degrees F is fine; that's about what mine are kept at.
