Video: My Ancistrus sp. cf. Cirrhosus (Brown Bristlenose) juveniles at the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet!

Here's a 3min 30sec video of my Ancistrus sp. cf. Cirrhosus (i.e. Brown Bristlenose Plecos) juveniles eating New Life Spectrum H20 Stable Wafers.

I have one male and five females in a 20-gallon species aquarium with two pieces of driftwood, some Hornwort and Java Moss for plants. Filtration consists of one Regent AquaTech 170 gallons per hour PowerHead with HydroSponge #5 for mechanical filter. The water is neutral if not slightly alkaline, and I do not add any water treatments or chemical additives.

I have had two spawns in the month or so since the male was introduced to his harem. I have made no efforts to "save" fry, and although I have seen a few casualties, it appears there is well over 100 juveniles growing out!

Please view my video below (hosted on YouTube). It was shot on July 3, 2009, in 640×480 resolution at 30 frames per second, using a point-and-shoot digital photo camera. It's not HD, but it's not bad, either.

When the YouTube video page opens, please click the "HQ" (High Quality) icon below the video window to maximize video quality.

Enjoy! BrownBullhead
