Hi!

Only males have the spikes on the back og the bodey.
Females don't have any spikes and are normaly more fat...

Look in to Shanes world and see ta artikle by Janne Ekström. There you have images of a female and information about the species and how to breed them!

Good luck!

Hi Katmandu,

Based on Janne's article : http://www.planetcatfish.com/shanesworl ... cle_id=241
I would say you have 2 males.

See you
Matien

:? I'm still confused.According to link, which you send me,it is said that males showing a lot of spikes, and females are more fat.

does every peckoltia species showing the same sex differences?,because i have a pair p.brevies, they spawn few times,he have a lot of spikes, thats true, but she also have a spikes, but very rare and few.what do you think about that?I thought that every peckoltias have the same sex differences? :beardy:

Thanks

More or less, but some Peckoltia species if the science dont move them to another genus dont share the same sex differencies. P. brevis and their close relatives is very easy to sex just looking on the hard upper ray in their coudal fin, males is thick and spiny and females is thin and smoth.

L134 is easy to sex when they are adults and in breeding condition, males grow very hairy on their coudal peduncle and females not...not is not the same that they lack the odontodes but these is so small that you barely can see them with your eyes. One particular problem with L134 is that both sexes get easily fat...looking like a "Frogg" so they can confuse you thinking you have only females.
