Heating...?

Post by mahdira »

I'm new to this whole catfish thing, so I thought I'd ask you experts! :D

I have a 4.5" spotted bullhead in a 10 gallon tank. (When he gets bigger I'll be upgrading the size of the tank.) Should I be heating the water? It's probably about 70 degrees at the moment, and the rosy barbs that are also in the tank are doing fine.

What do you think?

If you look at the Cat-eLog page:

It shows the temperature that this fish likes: 15-24'C.

(15 * 9 / 5) + 32 -> 27 + 32 -> 59'F
(24 * 9 / 5) + 32 -> 43 + 32 -> 75'F.

So, around 70'F is fine, and as long as you have some sort of heating in your house during the winter, it should be just fine.
