Sewellia and Gastromycon eat mostly algea.
They are pretty cool to look at too.
You also have quite a few Livebearing species from the Goodeidae wich are muchbetter algeeaters than many catfish, but some of them won't do too well, and may also be interested in eating otherstuff, like tails of other fish.

Any "unusual" ancistrus specie would be a good algae eater, such as or Ancistrus sp(l182).
Also Chaetostoma is good algae-eaters, but not always suitable for the community tank due to being best kept at a lower temperature.
Unfortunately, most of the more "interesting" patterns on Pleco's are less good algae eaters, and more omnivores and carnivores. Most algae eaters are grey-brown-black and have darker or lighter spots...

I'm working a group right now, which will be hitting their stride in the Spring. Could spare an individual if you are interested.
Also, PVAS is having a show next weekend in Laurel. We should be putting a variety of stuff into the auction on Sunday. Check http://www.pvas.com for info.
I'll PM you with details on the shop...
