Worlds biggest aquarium to come to the UK !

Post by racoll »

This item of news seems to date back from aug of last year, but it's the first i heard of it.

read this...

wow!! that sounds really good!

unfortunately some idiots without any concept of reality are protesting to stop it being built, branding it "evil"

http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/p ... p?news=469

it's so easy for them to impose their idealistic views on everyone else from their cosy armchairs lobbying a democratic government.

if they really cared about the ecology of the world, they would get over to south america and tell a cattle rancher or a goldminer that he can't feed his family because they think it's "cruel" what he does to the environment.

i think it would take a bit more balls to do that!

god, it makes me so angry. :ang:

Nirah is coming to Bedford

Post by mattc »

Nirah announced yesterday that the project is going to be built at a site in Bedford.

It will bring 2500 jobs to the area, and should be open by 2010.

There's a new story on the PFK site this morning.

Article in PFK wrote:According to the report, the campaigners said that fish do not survive well in captivity and the project will require the frequent removal of new specimens from the wild. They oppose any form of research.
How about they made some research on PROPER fishkeeping. Fish in captivity survive quite well, as long as they are kept under correct circumstances. Unfortunately, a lot of beginner fish-keepers do not understand "correct circumstances" and keep fish in over-stocked tanks, with the wrong water parameters and all sorts of other problems.

If they are going to protest against something, it should be against the practice of keeping goldfish in un-airated bowls and big catfish in small tanks... And hybridizing Czechs... ;-)

Argh...

So it's coming to bedford!!

that's within commuting distance for me. i'm gonna get me a job there!

i agree mats, there are a hundred thousand issues that are more worthy of protesting about than this.

Steve Lowe from the Bedfordshire Sunday couldn't have put it better....

"LAST week a rag-tag group of protesters gathered outside Bedford Town Hall.

There were only eight of them, so it did not exactly match the great demos of the 1980s.

Those earlier protests were concerned with major national and international issues such as nuclear war, anti-apartheid, jobs and poll tax.

This demonstration was worried about the well-being of fish. Some people are fearful that if the Nirah project gets the go-ahead, fish will be treated badly in their purpose built climate-controlled lakes".
