My L333 is letting his fry out. I was going to put him and the cave into a specially built trap so I could keep an eye on the fry till they got bigger. Well, best intentions aside, apparently I waited a little too long. Anyone out there with experience with fry released into a colony? I CAN move the adult fish, I have another tank I can set up in a hury IF that would be best. I just don't want to find a bunch of dead fry in the morning since these fish are pretty onery. Just wondered if anyone out there had spawned THESE particular fish. I've gotten some input from people that have spawned other hypensistrus, just wonder about these. Any insight would be appreciated. TIA
Your fry are more than ready to be let out on their own. They'll be fine. My male does not harass (nor do any of the other conspecifics) the fry in any way, and the fry, in fact, to escape the prying barbels of the callihchthyid cleanup crew, are usually found next to or even on their parents. As you've probably noticed, all L-333 group fish grow FAST.
Boy, you're not kidding about the growth rate on those babies! I'll just leave them alone and start another season when all the fry are out. They must be coming out to eat, they are all fat and all growing at an alarming rate! Even the few that have come out already.
Thanks for the input!
