Pygmaeus cory

Post by herekittykittykitty »

Hi, I am new here and I have some questions about breeding Pygmaeus corys. If anyone breeds them would you be kind enough to tell me about your setup (tank size/water conditions/preparing them for breeding)
Thank you very much.

When my pygmaeus were spawning regularly (once a month at least) they were at a much higher temperature than Ian's.

These were my readings.

pH = 7.2
KH = 3
TDS = roughly 200ppm (GH = 12)
Temp = around 25.5 C

I had a breeding group of 8 in an 18" x 15" x 12" tank.

Good luck with yours!!

PS. I think that generally corys prefer much cooler temperatures for spawning, although my sterbae and pygmaeus were both at between 25 and 26 C when they spawned!!

I've also had the most luck at 24-26 degrees celcius...at lower temps the fish were very inactive.

Actually, pH must have been more like 6.8-7
