I'm sorry, but what's there to be confused about?

L174 is definitely not what you've got, compare with this.

L173 - depending on who you listen to - is either , or this. See this thread.

I agree with Caol-ila - your fish is one of:

Hi

I
agree with Caol-ila - your fish is one of:
Hypancistrus sp(L66)
Hypancistrus sp(L333)
or L399 or L400( before Hypancistrus sp."Belo Monte")
8)

lately there are many L399 /L400 sold as L173
the darker one looks like L66 , and that in your hand looks like L399
Now i been more confused
sorry 8)

Hi there,
The one in your hand looks more like an L172 to me, the one in the right hand picture is definately an L333. Look http://www.zebrapleco.com/forum/viewtop ... sc&start=0 for a discussion we had some time ago.

Well that was the issue! I got the one with points and that is supposed to be the L174! The L172 is the one with the lines - or so it is believed. Now the one in the first pic above has the lines, so put two and two together ...
Have you got a pic of the L400 / or a website reference, cant find it anywhere!

:shock: :shock:
L172 => http://l-welse.com/forum/articles.php?a ... &artid=176

L174 = http://l-welse.com/forum/articles.php?a ... &artid=178
or
http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/lo ... /599_f.php
not every Hypancistrus with Points is L174 .
L400 = Hypancistrus.sp "belo Monte" search for this.

so i belive
Discusreds Hypancistrus Looks like L400 or L399 (in the Hand)
and the darker one like L66

Adams Plecos ar L400
and your Plecos ar L399 or L400

:oops: I quoted wrong on the issue of L172, the thread was about a believed-to-be L173, sorry about the typo.

However as we discussed L172 look also http://www.amazon-exotic-import.de/Gall ... %20172.htm .

Now, would you have a good reference for pictures of plecs other than planet catfish and aqualog?
and by the way, nothing wrong with your english!
