Hi Laura,

these are small L260 - without doubt!

Here is a picture showing some 8) juveniles sitting together under wood.

Yours are more white/black. mine are tan/gray-black. In the picture with the 3 QA's the male is in the center. The male is the top picture.

I thought I had 1 male and 3 females, well I have to of each. You can tell the coloring differences between them and their attitude. Barbie, when I posted thaat I wanted a mature male you told me to have patiences, well the patiences payed of. I think my big female is gravid and the dominant male is growing big odontodes. They are in caves right next to eah other. Hopefully I can get a picture and see what you think if she is gravid. I have a question. My room doesn't get direct sunlight but it get's alot. How should I do their lighting. The tank light, My blinds open in my room, halfway, or fully closed.

I have always used natural lighting for spawning tanks. Also, is it me or are those caves a bit large? I've never successfully raised fry in PVC caves before. Having switched to slate, I have noticed a definite improvement in spawning success and frequency.

The caves they are in are 1.25 inches. There is a cave in their that is 1 inch. Can I see some pics of your caves. Did you make them. Sven where did you get yours. Up at the corner the Catfish and Pleco Breeder site I saw some ones that I like. Do you think the can make a difference.

Hi,

I don't made the caves - I just bought them. Pictures from the manufacturer you can see here: http://www.b-a-r-s-c-h.net/barsch_hoehlenbilder.html

I can strongly recommend these caves!

What do you think of the Medium fish Breeding tube log that is found on Catfish and Pleco Breeders. It is 6.5 inches long and 1.5 inches opening.

"The caves they are in are 1.25 inches. There is a cave in their that is 1 inch."

If that is the case, the fish seem smaller than 3".

"Can I see some pics of your caves. Did you make them."

Yes.

Go to CichlidBreeding.com and go under all productd. On the forth page you will see it. And I just measured my dominant male and he is just over 3 inches. Thr bigger female is 2.75-3.00 inches. And I think I will make 3 of those caves. What should the dimensions be and do you just silicone it together. And those are slate right.

Most of the specs were taken straight from this faq:
http://www.planetcatfish.com/shanesworld/s_r_244.php

It is slate with AG silicone; nothing special.

So, would these inside dimensions be OK, or too small or too big, 1.5 inches high, 1.75" wide and 5 inches long.
