spotted cories

Post by mommabird »

I have three spotted cories (whom I refer to as the "ground's crew") in my large tank with 3 mid sized goldies and a Tiger peckoltia.

I had recently read that these cories need at least 6-7 of the same type in the tank.

Should I get more? Everybody gets along fine and I really prefer not to change things in this tank if not necessary.

Thanks :D

I think the recommendation for getting a group comes from their generally not exhibiting natural shoaling behavior in small groups, and perhaps this leading to them potentially feeling more stressed. But, if the choice is between upsetting a balance that's working and getting the group up to six, I'd probably stay with the status quo.

Just my 0.02, though.

Thanks :D

They seem pretty happy. They hang out together and even feed with the other fish at feedings. And, they are always scurrying around with their searching and sifting
