Don't think it's L236.
More likely L333.They are very variable in pattern and colour.Similar to this http://www.aqua-global.de/Bilder/Hypanc ... L333_3.jpg

Hi!

Yes the first picture fish show L333

regarding the second fish...

I doubt it is a L333.
I also doubt it is a L236, way too different...

Cheers

They share the same shape of their body and both have equal sized eyes placed on the same place on their head, the nose are short and the whole fish look stubby.
I would say that both are the same species...L333.

Hi!

Yes the body shape is very similar.
the eye coloration is a bit different still.
But base on body shape I would agree on the L333 id

Cheers

I agree with these, but the eye and caudal are a bit different.

Hi,

IMO the colour of the eyes say nothing about the species. I have seen several examples of plaecos from the same species with different coloured eyes.

Even that I think they are the same species I would not breed different pattern morph with each other, no one can be totally sure before they are scientic described...maybe not even then.
And local species should not either be mixed together but that is easy to say and harder to follow...how knows what is local? I mean it is very common with mixed boxes and also a great variety between individual of the same species and so on and we have no idea where they are collected...just the words from the exporter but it's not him that collect the species.

I understand that.

But, being as L333 both, the fish I see strange, also the differences I can see, the growth is more slowly than the others L333 I have, and then I thought this fish will be another l-number.

I totaly agree with this part, and soon you will see what Janne has meant by that.
There is lots of species out there with similiar body pattern, and until they are scientic described we can only guess what they are...
best regards,
Vedran
