Diurnal Pleco Please ...
My common (L-21) and tiger (L-002) seems very nocturnal.
My rubbernose (L-187b) is the only one I see in the day time sometimes.
I've researched this site for a smaller (6" or so), diurnal (day active) pleco. The only one I've found is:

Are there any others?

My L002's are always active in the day gnawing away at the wood. they're the first to get to the food.
my suggestion is to subdue the lighting and increase the number of hiding places so they feel more at home. use floating plants.
the only plecos that are completely diurnal are the vegetarian algae grazers of the genera Farlowella, Sturisoma, Hemiloricaria and Otocinclus etc.
the more carnivorous the pleco, the more noctural it usually is.

I see my albino bristlenose out almost all the time during the day.
Of course, the fact that I have a inch-thick of hornwort over the top of the tank, making the bottom dim, might play into this!
Though I do have a brown bristlenose in the same tank, and rarely see her....

But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I will be unique in all the world..... You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.

My female bristlenose is currently located in a tank sitting with a small but bright light from one end and whatever light passes through the window (usually quite a bit), and she's out during the day if there isn't _TOO_ much noise and movement in the room. Obviously lots of people talking/waving arms about, and she goes into hiding. It's a brown one. I do think these fish have personality, but I don't think it matters if they are brown or albino.
Bristlenoses (ancistrus) eat mostly algae, so follows the idea outlined above by racoll...
