Platynematichthys notatus

Post by Piranha »

:) This kind of fish is easily to keep? I cant find this kind of fish in small size and our aquar shop only import big size!(over 40cm). I know that finally they can not keep this a month! ( Died)

Is it a difficult to breed or other reason?
Thanks a lot

I don't quite understand your post but if your tank isn't large enough to keep it at least at the size it is brought in at then you shouldn't even buy it as it will most likely get larger. You should probably have at the very least a 220 Gallon/835 Liter Aquarium if your serious about keeping it.

I think you are asking if this is a hard to fish to keep. AFAIK, it isn't harder than any other similar sized Pimelodid although you are correct in stating that you don't see small ones being imported.

I'm going to update the cat-elog with some information on this species.

Hey...!

Platynematichtys notatus cat we call here LINCE cat fish, Well.. is not so delicate but is not made of rock, that fish is very sensitive to water quality, but if your water is with good filtration system no problem, here for export we hold them in 100 gals tank but with good filter systm, and yes.. never under 1 foot size, we are here since 1997 exporting fish and I've never seen under 1 foot, usual size is from 13" to 20" you can see even a video of that fish in our facility in the video section of our web site at http://www.neotropicalfauna.com

Best regards
