The pics are not very good, I know, but the gallery in wich they are located doesn't allow larger pics. If anyone would like clearer pics of a higher resoultion, just ask for them and I can mail them
Well, they were bought as Corydoras atropersonatus, but they were very small when I got them, so I got a bit confused when they grew bigger and were so different in colouration. Especially the markings in the dorsal fin was confusing.
I was getting the idea of them being C. kanei from a previous debate concerning these fish, and from the pictures og C. kanei/atropersonatus II on the "I love corydoras" website.
My third edit of this post, I keep changing my mind, looking at the fish and pics
IMO the first fish is probably NOT C. atropersonatus, but the pic is not all that clear. But it seems it has some markings in the tailfin. My C. atropersonatus have a complety clear tailfin and so do all the pics I have seen of this species. Seems to me the fish in the first pic has some vertical bands in the tail. I actually think, that your two pics very well could be the same species, just with a variable number of spots. My "C. kanei" also varies quite a bit on that.
The other fish is also tricky, but it is surely not an atropersonatus.
Allan, we agree on this one...nice atropersonatus...very white compared to my fish. Only makes it more obvious that my fish is not C. atropersonatus. I'm going to Akvarie West on sunday, Tonni has just gotten some atropersonatus in the shop. Exciting to see what THEY look like
I bought mine in Avifauna this sunday. They came in Tuesday last week, and seeing them on their sales list, I was sure it was another missed ID, but this time it actually was what they promised on their website.
I guess Akvarie West could easily have gotten their fish from the same batch, so you can easily be lucky aswell.
Get a good price on them if they are as small as mine. I only paid 120 Dkr (16 Euro) for 6 of them, which I think is very cheap for WC specimens.
