Telling apart C55 and C59

Post by mad scientist »

Hi everyone,
need some help here. Apart from type locality, how could one tell apart C. xinguensis (formerly C55) and C. multimaculatus (formerly C59)? They look very similar to me.

Thanks

Hi!

Corydoras xinguensis seems to have a mask line running throught the eyes, spots also seems to be slightly smaller and more numerous...

Cheers

Hi Yann! Thanks for the info!

hmm... The pictures of C55, Corydoras xinguensis do have a faint mask over the eyes. But the specimens featured in PCF's profile as well as the one on Ian's site do not:

Just to add onto the confusion, the body markings on the specimens on PCF and corycats also differ significantly.
