breeding questions..

Post by squid »

hi,

just wondering would it be better to move my trilineatus into their own 15 gallon tank for breeding purpose?
have been seeing breeding activity like chasing for a week now but still no eggs.. :?:

would it be better to move them into a 15 gallon on their own for breeding?
their current tankmates are albino cories and sterbais..
and also an algae eater..
would it be better to remove them? or just let them spawn in the comm tank?

also how often canthey breed? or should the males and females be separated to make sure they get some rest?
or is it ok to just let them be always together?

will sterbai or albinos eat cory eggs?>
how about algae eaters?

if i move them to a 15 gallon.. it will have just a sponge filter and some woods and anubias. but it'll still be bare..
would adding a spawnibg mop help?

thanks..

If you have an empty 15g I would put the trilineatus in their own breeding tank. If your goal is to breed the corys a species tank is best. If you leave the trilineatus in their current home the other residents of the tank will probably eat the eggs. It fact the trilineatus might eat the eggs themselves. The corys do not need a resting period between spawns. If you decide to use the 15g the addition of a spawning mop will be fine. Once the fish have spawned you can remove the eggs or the adults. I remove the eggs and hatch them out in another container. Best of luck.
