albino cory missing tailfin

Post by rockybear7478 »

I recently purchased an albino cory and he was fine. Today I noticed that he is almost completely missing his tailfin! He can barely swim now. Is there anything I can do to help him? Thanks for any advice.

I read everything on that topic related to mine. I don't know what caused the problem. The only other fish in the tank with him are neons and goldfish. Today he is just laying on his side at the bottom, but still breathing. I am thinking I should let him go. Thanks for your time.

im sorry about your cory. mine was pretty bad as well, but he has recovered. i'm sorry i cant really help you; i dont have a lot of experience, bur what i've done is check the water for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. i have done daily water changes, but in your case i think you've had a cycled tank, right? so, i really dont know how i could help you. melafix did seem to be a good help in my case though! good luck!

I really appreciate all the insight you have given me. I had to let mine go. He was paralyzed or something. He was breathing, but couldn't move at all. My tank hasn't been cycled yet, it is fairly new. I will try cory's again soon and next time I hope to have better luck. It is just strange because I don't have a clue what harmed his fin.
