Which medication for open sore?
Which medication for open sore?
What kind of medication can I use on a bristlenose pleco? She injured her lip (around the brisle) while spawning with male the other day.
Thanks for your help

There are lots of people who swear by Melafix. Even some very highly regarded aquarists.
I have never tried it before, but I don't think it would hurt.
Otherwise, very clean water, a slight increase in both temperature and currents may be all it takes. So long as the water is clean and the conditions are right, Ancistrus tend to be pretty tough when it comes to minor scrapes and wounds.

Iodine is usually whats used for Koi sores
You can just grab her and swab it on to clean the area.
I myself prefer melafix for very minor nicks & tears to any fish - but if it's deeper I'd probably try the iodine as well.
You'd have to treat her everyday to every couple days with it though which could be stressful if she's not used to being handled.
