Bagarius bagarius v. Bagarius yarrelli

Post by fishman33437 »

Without counting spines, etc is there a way to tell these two apart under 12". Any differences in young adult (24" or less) coloration? How is temperament towards other large non bottom dwellers. The Cat-eLog is a bit vague on these.

The position of the pelvic fins relative to the dorsal fin is supposed to distinguish the two: B. bagarius has the origin of the pelvic fin in front of the base of the last dorsal-fin ray, while B. yarrelli has it behind. Bagarius bagarius also tends to be less spotted.
