caring for eggs/Temps

In anticipation of things to come,...I have read conflicting info on how to care for the Cory eggs after spawning. My plan is this, and let me know if this makes sense....I have a school of the C. Leucomelas getting big and fat right now on a diet of brine shrimp, bloodworms, Spirulina flake, etc. in a 10 gallon tank. If/when we get a a spawn, I would remove the Corys and place them in another tank. My question deals with caring for the eggs in the 10 gallon. I would prefer not to remove them. I know I should lower the temperature to induce the spawn, but do I raise it back to 75-77 degrees F when I remove the Corys?

When you reduce the temperature to induce you should do it by water changing, using colder water to replace the water removed. There is no hard and fast rule as to the amount and temperature of the water used and quite often it is the normal 30% or so weekly water change that will trigger activity.

However to help with your C. leucomalas I would suggest an initial 50% water change replacing the removed water with water 10º F cooler. Leave your heater setting as they are. It may take several attempts to trigger the first spawning.

@Ian , when you say "It may take several attempts to trigger the first spawning." you mean that I will have to try water change every week or i should make a water change every day after good feeding??

Start with weekly water changes, which i would recommend you do any way, but for triggering a spawning use cold water. I nothing happens by the time the next water change is due, increase changes to twice weekly and then daily if necessary.
