Cory Breeding

Post by Beersnob »

All,

I have decided to look into possibly breeding some cories. So I need to do some research on the topic. I figure that the experience on this forum will at least be able to point me to the right direction.

Any good sources for breeding cories?

What about breeding mixed cory species?

How can you tell male from female in the cories?

Is there appropriate water quality issues, and size of tank that must be maintained during the breeding and fry development?

Again if you know a good link or source, let me know.

Thanks,

Scott

beersnob,

Most of your questions have been covered several times in this forum, but to cover a couple of your questions.

1. finding good quality stock can be a problem, you need to check out you lfs's

2. sexing: - http://www.corydoras.myby.co.uk/art%200 ... girls.htm

3. Trying to breed several species in the same tank is not a good idea in my opinion, this can lead to accidental cross breeding.

4. If you are seriously interested in breeding Corys then a copy of my book will answer most if not all of your questions.
