Buying fish when it is winter. .

Post by stibolt »

Hi all!

Well, a funny question perhaps, but. . I´ve noticed that a lot of fish in my LFS are sick when it´s winter. I also heard something about Ichtyophthirius multifilis (Fish Killer Disease) is at loose when the water´s cold.

Do you know something about that? I don´t want to buy sick fish, but still I´m wondering whether this is correct or not.

Ich usually breaks out when the fish are temperature stressed (i.e. when there is a sharp drop in the water temperature), so there is an element of truth in that.
