Bristlenoses laid eggs

First, let me say that I am inexpreienced at breeding plecos. I put my 2 bristlenoses together about a week ago, and now I have eggs. What should I do? Male is guarding eggs in his cave, but a few have come out. Should I add any type of anti-fungal medication? I have had angel fish egs before that have had fungus grow on them.

HI Clay!

You can pick up the eggs that were kicked out and put them in a floatting nursery with an airstone.

Regarding the eggs with the male, nothing to worry about them, I 'll just let you read the many articles and topic that are dealing about the subject...

Hi!

They are usually made of plastic with 2 floating device in each side, they are usually used in for Guppies and Platies...
Check the cat-elog under the Ancistrus sp galleries, there is a pic of such device...

hey congrats so do i my female just laid them yesterday shes been fat for alil whgile
i was getting worried that she was sick but she was just pregnate
i see the male covering the eggs
i got my hatchery at the lfs a few weeks ago so yeh rite now i hope he takes goood care of them and hopefully transfer someinto the hatchery with a stone

This morning I looked in again. The male is covering a bunch of eggs, looks like about 50 +. I saw another 3 that had come out of the cave. I syphoned those over to my breeeder cage with the air stone. Many of the eggs are attached to each other. I hope this is normal and not some kind of fungus.

Hi Clay!

It is normal if the eggs are sticky... nothing to worry about, you shall worry if they start turning white but as long as they stay yellow, it mean things are doing good...

same here the eggs are attached and the male is still over them
so after a few days they will begin to hatch?
then? do we take em and put them into the hatchery
how would u pick them up
by hand?>

Yeah, I figured the fuzzy white eggs weren't good anymore. I decided to let my angelfish have eggs for breakfast this morning. So far, it appears all the eggs the male is sitting on are still good.

I've noticed that several of the eggs the male is sitting on have fungus. Should I attempt to remove these eggs from the rest, or just leave them in there?

Well, unfortunately it looks like all the eggs have fungus. I suppose I will remove them from the cave. In the future, should I add some type of anti-fungal medication? If so, what do you reccomend?

Just leave them alone. He's just new at taking care of things, but he'll definitely figure it out. There are a few different problems that angel breeders associate with methylene blue in the water at different stages of development, and the odds are good your eggs just weren't fertile. That's what happened with my L260 eggs the first time. They'll spawn again, probably within 3 or 4 weeks. Don't panic. Just do some extra water changes to get the water parameters in good condition. He'll do the rest. I've never heard of one that it took long to get it figured out!

YAY my bristlenose eggs hatched today
now im not sure wat to do i have a 10 gallon spare tank it aint cycled and it has a sponge filter wat should i do?
should i fill it up and move the cave immediately?
the cave is atm in a 40 gallon with my fancy goldfish
so im not sure wat to do
move them to a hatchery in the 40 gallon or move thme into the spare 10
any help would be appreciated

Congrats on the birth. I think you are supposed to leave the babies with the male for a while, while they absorb the yolk sacs. Hopefully, mine will try again in a few weeks.
