Pseudacanthicus serratus - Spawn!!!

Post by Andrewjw »

I was floored to come home from an out of town trip to find my P. serratus on eggs, and tonight took about half of the hatchlings from the father, leaving about half in with him. WooHoo!!!

Wow, maybe that's a world first? Anyway, massive congratulations - we'd be delighted to feature a spawning article if you have time - it's been a while. :-)

Cheers,

Great success indeed, my favourite cactus pleco and one of the hardest ones to get.

P. serratus was bred already (UK first, followed by Germany and Indonesia), but that doesn't make the recent success less important. As other species of the genus the juveniles tend to be aggressive, so split them into as many groups as possible and good luck rausing them!

Thanks Daniel, Jools and all,
I now have a second spawn, and the pair is caving again.
The hard part of raising fry is on going!
Wish me luck,
Andy
