Leucomelas spot differences?

Post by Fiskars the Whiskers »

Last night I bought a cory that looks just like my Leucomelas, except for her spot pattern. My first fish has very dark, obvious spots like the pictures in the Cat-a-log, but this new one has tiny pinpricks of black all over her, almost unnoticeable. I've looked at the Cat-a-log, but nothing else really looks like her. Other than that, she has the same dark eye patch and black blotch on a pointy dorsal. She is also just a tiny bit bigger than my first fish, so I don't think she's "growing into" her spots. Is this a Leucomelas or something else?

Edit: In looking at her again, her black blotch extends up the dorsal spine area and is more diamond-shaped, while it is more of a small square-shaped blotch on my other fish. This one's fin is higher-looking as well. (Maybe it really is just a Leucomelas and I'm looking too much into this. :) )

Corydoras ambiacus looks similar to leucomelas. Have a look at it in the Cat-eLog.

Thanks, but it's not that little fishie. :) The spots are unnoticeable until you get up close and see that she is covered with tiny, tiny little spots.

Oh, perfect! I must have missed that one from the Cat-a-log. Thank you! That's just what she looks like. :D
