Bristle-nose Eggs

Hi everyone,

I just went to check on my bristle-noses and discovered my lare male in side his cave (half a coconut shell) with my larest female. Even better she must of deposited 30-40 eggs and I think that she is still laying.

.This is the first time that I have ever had eggs from them. I am just a bit worried that once the eggs have hatched and the babis escape that they may be eaten by the other Bristle-noses in the tank (there are 5 inculding the the two that have spanwed).

Do you think they will eat the young fry?

Would you recomend that I move the male out with the eggs into a diffrent tank?

They will not hurt the fry, no worries there. If your tank is large enough, you can raise 4 or 5 batches of fry, all together in one tank. The older ones won't hurt the young ones. Ancistrus are great to see in groups of differing sizes. Congratulations!

Just thougt I would give an update about my eggs.
Last night my first fry left the cave into the tank. This morning I checked to see how many fry I have in the cave (approx. 15 - 20), and to my surprise the male was garding a new clutch of eggs aswell as the babies. Not bad from going from never spanwing them too two spawns in a week.
Just one quesion, will the females spawn with the smaller male while I keep them as a group, or do you think they will only spawn with the larger one?
