I've seen plenty of plecos fanning eggs before, but I've never watched my female oil cats fan eggs (mainly because I usually remove the eggs immediately). This mom laid eggs three nights ago. She appears to have lost all the eggs which were dropped near the entrance to the cave, but she's placed herself deep in the cave and she locked her body in position with her pectoral spines while breathing really fast. Is this egg ventilation? It's not for poor water quality, as none of my other oil cats (also in caves but without eggs) are so earnest. They all look lazy.
Cheers, Eric
